For the Stars is a Multiplayer Sci-Fi Survival Crafting game developed in Unreal Engine 5 by a talent team of developers from across the world. The game puts heavy emphasis on exploration, building, crafting, and action-ability based combat (both in spaceship and out) in expansive alien worlds.
My work has generally focused around three key areas: Planet Generation/Content, the Construction System, and Quests.
I have a lot of pride in the work I have done regarding how extensive, customizable, and rigorous our construction system has become, allowing players to adapt to their environment and show a great deal of self-expression in doing so.
Our planets are cutting edge in terms of both size and density of content. Iterating through these biomes and creating varied content to fill these massive planets has been a labor of love. Creatures, minerals, gases, liquids, foliage, points of interest all amount to a titanic amount of work which has continued to bring these planets to life.
Quests tie deeply into the intro experience and further are used in the game's Factions. Working on the worldbuilding of the alien species, factions, and the types of quests they have is perhaps the most rewarding experience in my game development career.
While I can't share exact prototypes as the game is in development, below are several videos and screenshots released via the FTS Discord showcasing teasers of the game.
